Dr. Erica Ball began her first year at the French International School in September of 2015 as the music teacher at the Upper School. A local to the Philadelphia area, Dr. Ball was raised in Havertown, Pennsylvania, only a few miles from the school.
She received her undergraduate degree from Bard College in New York where she majored in both music composition and environmental studies. She then attended the University of Pennsylvania and obtained her doctorate in music composition. Dr. Ball currently works as an adjunct professor at the University and maintains a private music studio where she teaches and composes.
Dr. Ball has won numerous awards for her talents in music, most recently in 2015, when she was commissioned by the American Composers Forum Philadelphia Chapter and her work was featured on the New York City based Ensemble 212’s Young Audiences Concert. While she is only fluent in English, she considers music to be a language unto itself.
